A BIT ABOUT ME
Live Your Dream
April Lisette is an award-winning vocalist, musician, and educator from Albuquerque New Mexico, now based in Boston Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from New Mexico Highlands University, where she graduated on both athletic and music scholarships, and an MFA in Musical Theatre Vocal Pedagogy from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee—one of the few artists worldwide to hold this specialized terminal degree. Her training includes work with distinguished teachers and performers across vocal and piano disciplines, shaping her versatile and holistic approach to performance and pedagogy.
April has built a dynamic career as a performer, teaching artist, and coach across New Mexico, Arizona, Hawaii, and Massachusetts. Her work spans musical theatre, contemporary music, and collaborative performance, including appearances at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She has also recorded and performed with ensembles such as the Young Razzcals Jazz Project—appearing at the Telluride Jazz Festival—and the contemporary folk-rock group Wild Humans, with music available on major streaming platforms.
A passionate educator since the age of 16, April has taught at institutions including Pas De Deux, School of Rock, New Mexico School of Music, and The Growing Stage, and has served as an acting coach and resident artist for youth and professional productions. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Voice with faculty appointments at Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and Brookline Music School, where she trains the next generation of versatile, expressive performers.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Making Every Lesson Count
Welcome to Lisette Studios, where the harmony of science and art converges to nurture your musical journey. As a former collegiate soccer player, I bring the discipline, resilience, and athletic mindset of high-level training into my teaching, helping artists develop both skill and stamina in their craft. I believe deeply in the transformative power of music and the connection it creates between ourselves and the world around us. Specializing in singing and piano, my approach goes beyond conventional teaching—guiding you to create from the heart and develop a deep, authentic connection to your artistry. Whether you’re just beginning or refining a professional craft, I am here to help you unlock your full potential.
My teaching is rooted in a holistic philosophy that integrates mind, body, and spirit. While each lesson includes focused work on technique and theory, the majority of our time is devoted to applying those tools in a meaningful, expressive way. I believe true musicality extends beyond technical proficiency—it lives in creativity, emotional connection, and self-expression. Drawing from my athletic background, I encourage you to approach your voice and musicianship with the same consistency, curiosity, and dedication as any elite performer.
My work is grounded in science-based pedagogy, drawing from research in learning, performance, and the neuroscience of music. By using evidence-based techniques, I aim to enhance memory retention, efficiency, and creative exploration. This allows you to better understand how you learn, empowering you to grow with clarity, confidence, and a deeper connection to your instrument and voice.
Above all, Lisette Studios is both a personalized learning environment and a vibrant artistic community. I believe in the power of music to uplift, inspire, and unite—and I am committed to helping you spread positivity through your art and make a meaningful impact in the world.
MISSION STATEMENT
Elevating Artistry through Holistic, Science-Based Teaching
My mission is to empower artists to trust and fully express themselves by training with the discipline and athleticism of an elite performer.
